Paste a job spec and your CV. We'll rewrite it, fix keyword gaps, and write a tailored covering letter — all in one go.
Your CV is not your history. It is your opening argument.
”Around three in four CVs get rejected by an Applicant Tracking System before a human ever reads them. MonkCV is built to stop that happening to yours. Paste in your CV and the job description, and you get back a rewritten version aligned to the role — with a match score, a change log, and ATS-ready formatting. No sign-up. No paywall. No invented experience.
Drop your existing CV into the first box and the full job description into the second. The optimiser reads both at the same time. It identifies the keywords, qualifications and phrasing the recruiter and the ATS are scanning for, then rewrites your CV so the matches are visible — without putting anything on the page that is not already true about your experience.
You get three things back. First, the rewritten CV, in clean single-column text that any ATS can parse. Second, a match score showing how well the new version aligns with the role you applied for. Third, a change log — every edit explained, so you can see what moved, what was reworded, and why. Nothing is hidden. You stay in control of the final document.
The whole process takes around 30 seconds. The output is text you can paste straight into a Word or Google Docs template — which is also how ATS systems prefer to receive it. No locked formats, no fancy templates that the parser cannot read.
The Applicant Tracking System is the gatekeeper for nearly every corporate job application. It does not read for meaning. It scans for keywords, parses your experience into fields, and ranks you against everyone else who applied. A well-qualified candidate with a poorly optimised CV will lose to a less-qualified candidate with a well-optimised one almost every time.
The fix is not lying or stuffing keywords. It is using the exact language the job description uses (if the ad says "stakeholder management", your CV needs to say "stakeholder management", not "relationship building"), keeping the formatting clean, and surfacing the achievements most relevant to the role at the top. That is what MonkCV does automatically. For the full explanation of how ATS systems actually rank you, read What ATS Actually Looks For.
Anyone applying through an online portal or company careers page. That is most people. If you are sending your CV through LinkedIn Easy Apply, Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, BambooHR, SmartRecruiters, Taleo, or any corporate ATS, the system reads your CV before any human does — and the format and language matter enormously.
It is especially useful if you are career-changing (so the language on your CV does not match the new role yet), applying for several different role types at once (one CV cannot serve all of them), or just sending out a generic CV that has not been tailored to any specific job. Each of those situations leaves match-score points on the table.
How does the MonkCV CV Optimiser work?
You paste your existing CV and the job description you are applying for. MonkCV reads both, identifies the keywords and qualifications the ATS and recruiter are scanning for, and rewrites your CV so it matches the role without inventing experience you do not have. You get back a rewritten CV, a match score against the job, and a clear list of every change made. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds and is completely free.
Is the CV Optimiser actually free?
Yes. No sign-up, no trial, no credit card, no paywall after a number of uses. The optimiser runs on AI infrastructure that costs MonkCV money on every request — the cost is covered by optional donations from users who want the tool to stay free. There is a Support button in the footer if you want to help. There is never an obligation to.
Will the rewritten CV pass an ATS?
The output is structured specifically to pass Applicant Tracking Systems: clean single-column formatting, standard section headings, exact-match keywords from the job description, plain text fields the parser can read. Around 75% of CVs are rejected by an ATS before a human ever sees them, almost always because of formatting or keyword mismatch. MonkCV fixes both. The match score tells you how well the optimised version aligns with the role before you send it.
Does MonkCV make things up on my CV?
No. The optimiser will not invent jobs, qualifications, dates, or achievements you do not already have on your CV. What it does is reword your existing experience using the language the job description is scanning for, surface achievements that match the role, and reorder content so the most relevant material is read first. If something is not in your CV, it will not appear in the optimised version.
How is this different from ChatGPT or Claude?
MonkCV is purpose-built for one job: CV optimisation against a specific role. You do not need to write a prompt, attach files, or know which AI model to use. It produces ATS-ready formatting by default, gives you a match score, and shows you a change log of exactly what was edited and why. General-purpose AI tools can do this if you know how to ask — but you have to know how to ask. MonkCV gives you the right answer without the prompt engineering.
What CV formats does the optimiser accept?
Paste plain text from any CV format — Word, PDF, Google Docs, LinkedIn export. The tool works on the content, not the file format, so anything legible will work. You will get the optimised CV back as text you can paste into a Word or Google Docs template, which is also how ATS systems prefer to receive it.
